Ending Destructive Wildfires: The XPRIZE Wildfire Challenge

Around the globe, communities face mounting losses as climate change fuels longer fire seasons, extreme weather, and rapid-fire spread.

Traditional methods of fire detection and response can’t always keep up.

Enter, XPRIZE Wildfire

XPRIZE Wildfire is a bold, $11 million global competition designed to transform wildfire response through fully autonomous detection and suppression systems. The mission is to end destructive wildfires by accelerating innovation that moves us from reactive to proactive wildfire management.

Supported by the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation, PG&E, Lockheed Martin, and others, the competition features two tracks, with the Autonomous Wildfire Response Track challenging teams to detect, verify, and suppress a fire in under 10 minutes, within a vast 1,000 km² area, without human intervention.

Smarter Wildfire Response, Powered by Collaboration

We’re proud to share that Fire Foresight has been selected as one of 15 global semifinalists in the XPRIZE Wildfire Autonomous Wildfire Response Track.

A global collaboration of Indicium Dynamics, Robotics Cats, Taz Drone Solutions and Little Place Labs, our team has built a layered and scalable system that detects fires early, verifies their location with autonomous drones, and initiates rapid suppression, all while feeding live intelligence into a central platform used by emergency responders.

This end-to-end approach isn’t just about alerts—it’s about awareness, speed, and precision. By fusing on-the-ground sensors, aerial robotics, satellite imagery, and human oversight, Fire Foresight helps responders act faster and with more confidence, before small fires become disasters.
